Membership in Cedar Mountain Volunteer Fire/Rescue, Inc. is open to anyone of good character who lives within 15 miles of the district border. There are four (4) classes of membership: Active, Junior, Life, and Honorary. Active members make up the majority of the members. They are the firefighters, rescue technicians, medical first responders, traffic control officers, and drivers, that respond to calls for service, etc. Junior members are students between the ages of 14 and 17 who want to become active members upon reaching their 18th birthday. They can perform certain duties both at an emergency scene and at the building. Their duties may not place them in any direct danger! Life Members are those members who have dedicated a minimum of 20 years of service to Cedar Mountain Fire/Rescue and have been awarded the honor by a vote of the general membership! Life Membership is sub-divided into Retired and Active categories. Retired Life Members have retired from active service. Active Life Members are still functioning members however they are exempt from any participation requirements set by department guidelines (they need only maintain the state mandated 36 hours of training each year). Honorary members consist of some retired members, the two community members of our Board of Directors, the spouse and children of former active members, and anyone else who is interested in promoting and assisting the department with accomplishing it's goals. The only age requirements are for Active members, who must be at least 18 years of age (there is no maximum age), and Junior members, who must be at least 14 years of age and not over 17. Active and Junior members must also be in generally good health! If you are interested in joining our department, click the Membership Application link above to open the application in Adobe PDF format, print the application, fill it out, then submit it to any officer! Direct any questions of one of our officers.
